About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our Integrated Defense and Autonomy Systems based in Adelaide, Melbourne or Sydney reporting to the Software Team Lead.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working.

As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for delegated software engineering activities as directed by the team leader, in accordance with relevant project procedures and work instructions to achieve project technical, schedule and cost goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake all assigned Software Engineering activities, including related documentation, in accordance with identified project directives and standards, and commensurate with the lifecycle stage of the project
  • Proactively provide status update information to relevant stakeholder i.e supervisors and/or project manager.
  • Leverage experience to assist in development of project infrastructure, such as tools deployment, metrics collection and process development
  • Take accountability for work packages while working effectively as part of a Software Engineering team
  • Responsible for performing software engineering tasks in accordance with the relevant software engineering plans

About YOU

  • Experience in Python & C/C++, embedded systems is considered desirable
  • A background in computer networking and real time operating systems is considered desirable
  • Defense security clearance or eligibility to obtain a NV1 clearance
  • Tertiary qualification in Software Engineering or a similar field is considered Essential
