We are currently looking for an experienced Lead HV Electrical Engineer who can lead and support our team of electrical and civil engineers as part of our Energy & Power, Transmission & Distribution projects with key clients. This includes work on transmission system assets (including HV and EHV Substations / Primary Plant, Protection & Control / Secondary, Overhead Lines, EHV and HV Cables), HVDC interconnectors, energy storage systems, solar farms and onshore and offshore wind farms.

Your responsibilities:

  • Represent Jacobs in front of the client including ownership of the projects and required deliverables
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams located in disperse locations, including UK, Poland, Germany, India and other countries
  • Multidisciplinary coordination of all design efforts
  • Close collaboration with construction teams at site as required
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with all stakeholders as required
  • Manage project programme and ensure the target dates are achievable
  • Ensure quality of works is meeting project specification and any internal and external standards
  • Ensure the project budget is managed throughout, work closely with project manager to ensure the projects’ expectations are met
  • Support design team as and when required

Here's what you'll need

  • A Bachelor or Master of Science in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited engineering school, ideally in electrical engineering. Other disciplines will also be considered.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to manage teams and projects effectively.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution or similar market.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical or civil engineering design principles and practices, particularly in the energy sector up to 400kV, especially EHV or HV Substations, or HV Cable or OHL systems.
  • Design Experience: Knowledge and experience of EHV / HV Substation design principles are desirable.
  • Fluent English spoken and written to allow confident communication with the client, stakeholders, project manager and design teams.
