What you will do:

Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented industrial engineer to monitor our current operations and determine more efficient production processes. The Industrial Engineer is responsible for facilitating Industrial Engineering and Lean activities within the plant or a portion of the plant.  The industrial engineer's responsibilities include performing time studies, analyzing operations for opportunities for improvement, designing workflows and improving material flow, efficient site and assembly layouts and production processes, reducing inefficiency, and ensuring that final products meet the established quality standards.

How you will do it:

  • To be successful as an industrial engineer you should be able to design production systems that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness and production issues, are cost-efficient, and ensure high product quality.
  • Design the layout of facilities and determining personnel requirements, maintaining labor models.
  • Improve site Material Flow by using tools like PFEP, Floor space Planning tools and Inv. Calculations.
  • Calculate Capacity and maintain site capacity models.
  • Perform Indirect Labor time studies, calculate utilization and developing action plans for improving plant efficiency.
  • Improve Material flow and introduce Material automation. (AGV/VGV etc.,)
  • Reviewing production schedules, processes, specifications, and related information.
  • Map production processes / use Value Stream Mapping to identify constraints and help with constraint management. 
  • Developing and implementing process improvements and analyzing current processes for new technological upgrades.
  • Developing design and production standards in cooperation with management and Shop personnel.
  • Preparing material and equipment lists, purchase orders, cost analyses, and estimated production costs.
  • Training staff for new processes and providing instructions and manuals.
  • Managing process/project documentation and preparing reports.
  • Identifies waste and opportunities for the business to improve in (among others by using Lean principles and methodologies).
  • Collaborate with site lean teams for improvements, participate or lead Kaizen events, and waste reduction.

What we look for:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering.
  • Relevant work experience: Internships, co-op experience, or collegiate projects.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
  • Experience or knowledge on Time studies, calculating Capacity, Labor models, and Toyota Production System principles.
