How You Will Make An Impact

· Coordinate field inspections and investigations under supervision of a project engineer, including on-site direction of subsurface exploration activities, subsurface utility marking notifications, and obtain access permits/communications. 

· Gather data from test borings, test pits, and monitoring wells.

· Oversee installation of various geotechnical instrumentation and read them based on project requirements.

· Conduct field testing and select samples for laboratory soil testing. 

· Perform a variety of engineering analyses and calculations, with and without the use of engineering software. 

· Prepare geotechnical report and present findings and recommendations.

· Monitor construction operations, including earthwork, dewatering, and excavation support installations and prepare engineering field reports.

· Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, and technical specifications.

Requirements

What You Bring to The Team

· Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (emphasis on geotechnical engineering), or related degree, from a 4-year accredited college or university. Masters preferred.

· Experience with software for geotechnical analysis and design of slope stability, earth retention / shoring, settlement, vertical and lateral loading of shallow and deep foundations, and related items is highly desirable.

· Ability to interact with existing clients to understand their needs. 

· May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.

· Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

· May be required to enter and work within confined spaces, once appropriately trained.

· Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills.

· A desire to be part of a results-focused team solving a variety of problems facing our clients.

· Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan. 

Preferred Qualifications

· EIT preferred; or able to be obtained within 1 year.

· 3+ years of demonstrated field and analyses experience in Geotechnical Engineering
