Your Opportunity

Stantec’s multi-disciplinary office in Tampa or Orlando Florida has an opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer/Civil Designer – Civil / Site Development. We are seeking a candidate with experience in professional practice and design related to land development.

This position will be involved with significant projects, interact with clients and government agencies and effectively working with a team. Responsibilities include design and preparation of site, grading, drainage, erosion control and utility plans as well as design reports. Construction administration will also be part your duties on a limited basis.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

  • Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.

  • Prepares and revises documentation in various civil phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.

  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.

  • Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis, and basic cost estimating.

  • Assists project managers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.

  • May lead the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.

  • Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized civil elements.

  • Participates in constructability review.

  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on projects.

  • Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil engineering team.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to perform all aspects of design (grading, streets, water, sewer, storm drainage, , erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.

  • Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.

  • Experience with both private and public sector clients/projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent oral, written and graphic communication skills, including computer literacy in AutoCAD Civil3D and MS Office.

  • Direct experience in field supervision and construction observation is an asset.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.

  • 5 years of experience in the profession of Civil Engineering civil/site design.

  • Registered Professional Engineer in FL or ability to obtain within 1 year is a plus.

Position will primarily work in an office setting and may require some field work.
