Position Overview

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking a Building Electrical Engineer for our Industrial Building Group. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also utilizing these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. Candidates shall be capable of exhibiting flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.

Location

This position is based in our Lenexa, Kansas office.

Responsibilities

Have a basic understanding of building electrical systems.

Become familiar with building codes and standards for the design of building electrical systems.

Developing building lighting, power and distribution designs, including minor telecom and security provisions, on various projects and building types.

Performing Revit modeling and drawing creation, and/or coordinating with BIM staff for completion.

Completing calculations for lighting, electrical loading, short circuit, voltage drop, and energy code.

Bid review, shop drawing review, RFI response, and construction site punch lists.

Project coordination with others inside and outside of Industrial Building Group.

Assisting with creating and maintaining department standards and tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master's degree in architectural engineering (with an electrical focus) or Electrical Engineering

GPA above 3.0 preferred

Passed FE exam is a plus

0-2 years of industry experience 

Familiar with Revit and Microsoft Office

Familiarity with lighting design software and Bluebeam is a plus

Self-starter that can integrate with various engineering design disciplines.

Good written and verbal communication skills.
