Overview

GFT is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to support a variety of projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Baltimore office.

Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced, motivated Bridge Project Engineer who thrives in a collaborative team environment. The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project. 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and transportation related structures

Developing details of bridge components for contract drawings

Calculating quantities and developing construction cost estimates

Review of shop drawings

Assisting with or team leading bridge inspections and preparation of inspection reports

Performing load ratings

Participating in project meetings with clients

Coordination with team members to meet project quality standards and milestone deadlines

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

A minimum of B.S. in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited engineering program 

5-9 years of experience in bridge design or bridge inspection

Licensed Professional Engineer. If not currently in possession of a MD PE, willingness, and ability to acquire MD PE within six (6) months of hire

Understanding of structural design principals for steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete 

Experience with various design codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, NDS, etc.

Experience using structural design and analysis software such as LARS (load ratings) Merlin-DASH, Open Bridge Designer (LEAP Steel and Concrete), STAAD, L-Pile, etc.

Experience drafting with Microstation and AutoCAD

Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.  Must possess strong organization and time management skills

Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Ability to grow to the next level of leadership and success

Team oriented and self-motivated

Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

What we prefer you bring:

NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Certification a plus

The Salary range for this position is $72,000-$122,00. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
