GHD is proud to have one of Australia's largest tunnel design practices and our business has several excellent opportunities for Tunneling professionals to join our national business (location in Brisbane (favored), Melbourne or Sydney). 

With iconic projects such as Sydney Metro West – Western Tunnelling Package, and several Pumped Hydroelectric Schemes, you can apply your strong tunnel design experience and influence significant projects of the future from the onset. Sound exciting? We think so!

We execute tunnelling projects for water, hydroelectric, and transportation sectors through global collaboration. Our teams across Australasia and the Americas.

Working with the Team Leader for Tunnels and Underground Spaces, the position plays a key technical delivery role, and will see you involved in a diverse range of work, including:

Permanent and temporary structural design for tunnels, caverns and underground spaces

Supporting the production of design deliverables including drawings, specifications and reports

Tunnel condition assessment and remediation design

What you will bring to the team

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tunnelling projects

Experience in the assessment of geotechnical data and geo-structural design for the design of temporary and permanent ground support of shafts and tunnels.

Sound communication skills for interfacing with associated teams including geotechnics, dams, structures and associated markets covering transport, water, hydropower and energy.

The ability to work semi-independently, delivering projects utilising appropriate team members, knowing when to seek guidance from peers

Well established written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate complex issues concisely

The ability to communicate openly and build relationships with peers and clients

Relevant tertiary qualification. Postgraduate qualifications will be favourably considered.

Chartered status (e.g. CPEng, RPEQ, VPEQ) is highly desirable and if not, conscientiously working towards achieving it.
