We have an exciting opportunity for a multi-disciplinary Technician to join our Electrical Technologies team located in Rancho Bernardo. We are looking for a motivated, talented, and experienced individual with experience working with complex electro-mechanical assemblies who thrives in a fast-paced, Research and Development (R&D) environment. The successful candidate will report to an EE Design Team Supervisor and alongside high-caliber staff, will be engaged in the support and new development of GA-EMS technologies and products, including High Energy Laser (HEL) Systems, specialized power conditioning systems, advanced electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communication systems, cutting-edge technology ventures into “New Space,” and a variety of other technologies in the expanding product portfolio of GA-EMS.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assemble breadboards, prototypes, electro-mechanical assemblies, and electrical test fixtures in support of electrical engineers using soldering equipment, power, and hand tools.

Test, maintain and improve electronics circuits, electrical power systems, RF devices and systems.

Assemble, modify, and install precision mechanical assemblies and plumbing including high performance cooling systems

Diagnose and identify failures in custom and Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) electronics assemblies.

Bring-up high voltage test stations, conduct electrical testing and perform data collection using standard electrical measurement devices such as Voltmeters, Oscilloscopes etc.

Assemble complex cable harnesses, install cables and wire as part of complex interconnect systems.

Execute Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and large electronic modules.

Records and reports experimental or test data, observing data for anomalies, preparing summaries of data via written tabulations, charts, graphs, and reports as necessary.

May assist in the design of complex equipment and provide input regarding assembly and manufacturing practices.

May serve as Lead Technician in work area on a large program, including offsite or during shift work.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:

Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with training from the military and/or a trade school and twelve or more years of experience.

Analytical Ability to interpret detailed instructions, schematics, drawings, and specifications.

Must possess good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills to enable an effective interface with other professionals and produce appropriate documentation.

Special skills and expertise to use complex equipment or experimental techniques.

Ability to diagnose complex mechanical/electrical problems and find effective solutions.

Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.

High Voltage (> 50 Volts) testing experience is highly desired.

Experience with optical systems and lasers is highly desired.
