To support this transformation, we’re now strengthening our team in Stenungsund/Karlstad and looking for a skilled Senior Structural Engineer who shares our vision.

Our local offices in Stenungsund (60) and Karlstad (30) includes around 90 specialists – piping designers, project managers, construction managers, electrical and automation engineers, inspectors, and structural engineers – working together on complex and impactful projects. Our clients include leading companies in petrochemicals, energy production, and pulp & paper.

With strong digital tools, we collaborate seamlessly with clients and colleagues across COWI’s global network. Our project scope often includes the full lifecycle – from feasibility studies and concept development to detailed design, procurement, construction supervision, and final inspection.

YOUR ROLE AS STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll contribute your civil engineering expertise to industrial projects of varying size and complexity. You'll be part of multi-disciplinary teams and involved throughout all project phases.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Designing foundation and load-bearing systems, particularly for concrete structures

Developing and analyzing structural models using 2D, 3D, and advanced calculation tools

Performing structural dimensioning and verifications for stabilizing systems and client-specified elements

Designing both concrete and steel structures, including technical detailing

Leading early-phase planning including structural system selection and preliminary calculations

Executing detailed design with 3D modelling and structural simulations

Collaborating across disciplines to ensure high-quality, integrated solutions for our clients

WHO YOU ARE

To succeed in this role, you are proactive, collaborative, and technically skilled. You’re driven by both precision and purpose – and you value a professional environment where teamwork, knowledge sharing, and development are at the core.

We believe you bring:

A Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Several years of experience (ideally 10+) in structural analysis/design, primarily in concrete and steel

Proficiency in tools like FEM-Design, Mathcad, and WIN-Statik

A strong client focus and a natural ability to work cross-functionally

A goal-oriented, analytical mindset

Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, written and spoken

A team mindset and the desire to grow – whether into a technical specialist or project manager role
