Your tasks

We're looking for a Sr. System Engineer - Power Electronics to join our engineering team in Farmington Hills, United States. In this senior role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced power electronics systems for demanding industrial and automotive applications. You will combine your deep technical expertise with analytical rigor to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation in power conversion technologies. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers while contributing to cutting-edge projects that shape the future of power electronics.

Design, develop, and optimize power electronics systems including DC-DC converters, AC-DC rectifiers, and inverter topologies

Conduct detailed circuit analysis and perform simulations using industry-standard tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, and Simulink

Lead technical projects from concept through production, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and quality standards

Perform comprehensive testing, validation, and troubleshooting of power electronics hardware and control systems

Analyze thermal management requirements and implement effective cooling strategies to ensure system reliability

Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and system architecture diagrams

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless system integration

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence

Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements

Evaluate and recommend power semiconductor devices and components based on performance, cost, and reliability criteria

Your profile

**Required Qualifications: **

8+ years of professional experience in power electronics design and development

Strong expertise in power conversion systems, including DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, and inverters

Proficiency with circuit simulation and design tools such as SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, and PCB design software

Solid understanding of power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes) and their applications

Experience with thermal analysis, thermal management, and reliability engineering

Demonstrated ability to conduct system-level integration and hardware testing

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Experience with technical documentation and design specification development

Proficiency in communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

**Preferred Qualifications: **

Experience designing power electronics systems for automotive or industrial applications

Familiarity with power quality standards and EMI/EMC compliance requirements

Background in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and real-time simulation

Experience with power factor correction (PFC) and energy efficiency optimization

Proven track record of mentoring and leading technical teams

Knowledge of control systems and feedback loop design for power electronics

Experience with industry standards such as IEC, ISO, and automotive-specific requirements
