What will you do

At Volvo Construction Equipment Germany GmbH, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will: 

Development of embedded software for control functions running on custom ECUs in our wheeled excavators

Collaborate closely with system and hardware engineers to define and implement software requirements

Use of model-based development and simulation (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) to design control algorithms

Ensure software quality through module testing and integration into safety-critical systems

Involvement in the full development cycle — from prototypes to production and customer adaptations

Contribute to the success of our next generation excavators and to Volvo’s decarbonization journey

Your future team

We, the wheeled excavator product platform, are a dedicated team that takes care of the development of our machines from the initial idea through to series production. In addition, we also develop assistance functions for the machine operator, which are becoming increasingly important due to rising demands on productivity and safety.

What sets us apart is our global networking. We work closely with an international team at various locations and develop machines with complex functions, leveraging the expertise present in multiple sites. This diversity enables us to benefit from the different perspectives of our team members in Konz and around the globe. Through this collaboration, we ensure that our products meet the requirements and needs of our global customers.

What will you bring

A university degree with a focus on computer science, computer engineering, software development or electronics engineering

Solid experience in embedded software development for real-time systems and in working with hardware

Experience with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849 or ISO 26262)

Being comfortable with working with ambiguity and evolving requirements, especially while contributing to solutions in early, exploratory phases of development

A high sense of responsibility and the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics

Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a strong team orientation and the willingness to share knowledge and continuously develop yourself
