Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in water systems, focusing on pump stations, valves, piping design, hydraulics, and dam engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute to high-profile projects in the Christchurch area.

  • Leads packages within multidisciplinary three-waters and/or dams engineering projects, applying mechanical engineering judgement and sector experience.

  • Develops, validates, and integrates mechanical design inputs using established methodologies, relevant standards, asset owner specifications, and industry best practice.

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

  • Conduct hydraulic analyses to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with industry standards.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in mechanical design and project execution.

  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver exceptional results.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in water systems.

  • Strong knowledge of pump station design, piping design, valves, and hydraulics.

  • Experience in dam engineering is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Registration as a Chartered Engineer is preferred.
