Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Engineer - Geotechnical to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your extensive expertise in geotechnical engineering to deliver comprehensive solutions for complex projects. You will work collaboratively with technical directors, associates, and contractors while mentoring junior staff and driving project success through analytical rigor, transparent communication, and a commitment to excellence.

  • Develop and implement geotechnical solutions utilizing scientific principles, theories, and advanced technologies to address technical challenges with precision and innovation

  • Monitor and oversee geotechnical field activities to ensure compliance with project requirements, applying rigorous geotechnical assessment and interpretation methodologies

  • Liaise effectively with geotechnical contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects meet client expectations, quality standards, and established deadlines

  • Prepare, review, and validate a comprehensive range of technical documents, including desk studies, interpretative reports, specifications, construction drawings, and design reports

  • Conduct geotechnical designs encompassing settlement analysis, retaining wall design, foundation design (shallow and deep), earthworks, and slope stability analysis

  • Demonstrate strong technical awareness and expertise in specifications, ensuring all work aligns with contract requirements and design standards

  • Verify the correctness and completeness of all deliverables to guarantee they meet quality specifications and remain consistent with field conditions

  • Provide mentorship and on-the-job training to junior staff members, supporting their professional development and progression toward chartered status

  • Actively participate in team and client meetings, contributing strategic insights, owning decisions, and proposing innovative alternative concepts

  • Prepare and manage contractual correspondence as required, maintaining transparent and professional communication

  • Travel internationally as project requirements dictate, ensuring consistent on-site oversight and quality assurance

  • Stay current with evolving design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical engineering, while remaining open to exploring innovative methodologies

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in geotechnical investigation and design work following undergraduate degree completion

  • Proven leadership experience in similar senior-level roles, with demonstrated ability to mentor and lead high-performing teams

  • Extensive experience in geotechnical design including settlement analysis, retaining walls, shallow and deep foundations, earthworks, and slope design

  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and client relationship management

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline

  • Professional Engineer registration with ECSA or equivalent Chartered status

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current design codes and standards in geotechnical engineering

Technical Skills & Expertise:

  • Advanced proficiency in geotechnical software (GEO5, WALLAP, ALP, SlopeW/Slide, Plaxis)

  • Strong competency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Expertise in soil and rock mechanics principles, geotechnical field monitoring, and technical document preparation

Professional Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts

  • Collaborative mindset with proven ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams

  • Willingness to travel internationally as project requirements necessitate
