Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Electrical Engineer IV for immediate employment in the Virgina Beach, VA. office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. This position is for a hybrid work environment for 2 days at home and 3 days in the office.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes.

  • Experience designing medium/low voltage power distribution, lighting, lightning protection, security, and other low voltage systems for DOW/Federal, Industrial, Commercial, Higher Education and High Rise, and Wastewater.

  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.

  • Attend project meetings, or when appropriate, delegates activities.

  • Meet with clients and prepares technical presentations while maintaining good client relations.

  • Represent the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organizations.

  • Work with Project Engineer and Project Manager on developing design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities.

  • Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis)

  • One-line diagrams, cable schedules, switchgear/switchboard/panelboard layouts, equipment layouts, and

  • Utilize experience with the design of lighting and lighting control systems for commercial, government and industrial facilities in accordance with energy code requirements (ASHRAE 90.1 or IECC) including familiarity with lighting calculations, occupancy control, etc.

  • Comply with hazardous area classification codes and standards.

  • Develop construction and equipment specifications.

  • Support projects during construction – Contractor submittal review and RFI review.

  • Grounding Analysis and Design.

  • Review engineering work performed by peers.

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.

  • Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Prepare technical specification sections.

  • Mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited program and (6) Six years of design experience as well as leading projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD

  • PE License

  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.

  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in Electrical Power Calculation Software (SKM, ETAP, or Easy Power)

  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Code

  • Experienced in application of National Electrical Safety Code

  • Working knowledge of NFPA and IEEE Regulatory Codes

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans and drawings

  • Ability to switch between working on multiple/different projects

  • Willingness to travel occasionally

Additional Information

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $120000 to $160000.
