THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity to join Stantec’s growing water sector team in Ireland at a senior level, playing a key role in the delivery of critical infrastructure that supports communities, protects the environment, and addresses the challenges of climate change. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead and contribute to a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects, spanning feasibility, concept design, detailed design, and construction support across the full project lifecycle.

You will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, working alongside specialists in engineering, environmental science, and planning to deliver integrated and sustainable solutions. This role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of key project elements, mentor junior engineers, and further develop your leadership, client engagement, and project delivery capabilities within a growing sector team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Civil Engineer within Stantec’s water team, you will play a leading role in the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to construction. You will be responsible for overseeing and producing high-quality technical outputs, including designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, and contract documentation.

You will provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, contribute to design reviews, and help ensure consistency, quality, and compliance across project deliverables. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will engage directly with project managers, environmental specialists, contractors, and clients, supporting effective project coordination and delivery.

This role provides a strong platform to take ownership of technical workstreams while continuing to develop your leadership and client-facing experience within Ireland’s water sector.

YOUR IMPACT

In this role, you will make a significant contribution to the delivery of essential water and wastewater infrastructure that underpins community wellbeing, public health, and environmental protection across Ireland. Your technical leadership will help ensure the delivery of reliable water services, improved network performance, and enhanced climate resilience.

By applying advanced engineering judgement and industry best practice, you will drive the development of efficient, compliant, and sustainable design solutions. Your input will be critical in managing technical risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering long-term value for clients and stakeholders.

Through your leadership within multidisciplinary teams, you will help shape high-quality project outcomes, strengthen client relationships, mentor developing engineers, and contribute to the continued growth and reputation of Stantec in Ireland’s water sector.

ABOUT YOU

You are an experienced Civil Engineer with strong technical capability and a proven track record in the design and delivery of water network projects. You are confident operating at a senior level, providing technical leadership, and supporting the development of junior team members.

You will demonstrate:

  • A minimum Level 8 degree in Engineering (or a related discipline)

  • Significant post-graduate experience in water network design and delivery

  • Strong technical expertise with the ability to lead design development and review outputs

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams and engaging with clients and stakeholders

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively
