Description
Shape a future with purpose at Arup.
Join our Copenhagen Infrastructure team and lead the civil engineering design of complex site-development projects across Denmark, the Nordics and internationally.
Our site infrastructure team delivers roads, drainage, earthworks and utility infrastructure for projects in the Science, Industry and Technology, healthcare, education, commercial, residential and transport sectors. Working as part of multidisciplinary Arup teams, you will help develop coordinated, sustainable solutions from early concept through detailed design and construction.
This is an opportunity to take a leading technical role, work directly with clients and help grow our site infrastructure capability in Copenhagen.
The Opportunity
You will take a leading role in the delivery of multidisciplinary site-development projects, working directly with clients and collaborating with colleagues across Arup. The position combines hands-on technical leadership with project delivery, mentoring and the continued growth of our Copenhagen site infrastructure capability.
As a Senior Civil Engineer at Arup, you will:
Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering and utility infrastructure for complex site-development projects.
Manage the production and coordination of designs, drawings, 3D models, specifications and technical reports, ensuring agreed quality, programmed and budget requirements are met.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Represent Arup at client meetings, offering expert advice and developing innovative solutions.
Help shape and grow our site infrastructure capability in Copenhagen, supporting project development, technical excellence and the development of junior colleagues.
Role Requirements
We are looking for an experienced civil engineer who combines strong technical capability with effective project leadership, client engagement and a collaborative approach. The essential skills and experience for the role are:
A degree in civil engineering and approximately 8–10 years of relevant experience within a consultancy, contractor or local authority. We also welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate equivalent capability.
Strong technical design capability across site infrastructure disciplines, including surface-water drainage, foul drainage and water-supply infrastructure, roads and car parks, earthworks, and underground utility design and coordination.
A proven track record in delivering complex, multidisciplinary site infrastructure projects.
Ability to technically lead and manage the design process on site infrastructure projects from early concept and planning through detailed design and construction.
Strong experience using Civil 3D or comparable civil engineering design software, together with experience delivering coordinated designs within a multidisciplinary BIM environment. Familiarity with Revit is desirable.
Professional proficiency in English and in at least one Scandinavian language, preferably Danish. An ability and willingness to work in a Danish-speaking project environment is important.
We also value:
Knowledge of the Danish regulatory and planning framework, including experience supporting site infrastructure projects through the planning and approvals process.
Experience liaising with utility companies and local authorities.
Experience managing interfaces with architectural, structural, geotechnical, landscape, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
Experience leading teams in a digital/BIM environment and coordinating civil infrastructure with other disciplines.
A passion for improving digital project delivery and keeping abreast of developments in civil engineering design technology and BIM.
Experience using hydraulic modelling software.
