What to Expect
Tesla’s Lathrop Casting and CNC Machining is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Quality Engineer to join the team and contribute to our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
The Quality Engineer is a key person of the Lathrop Casting and CNC Machining Team. Quality and accuracy are paramount to the success of our team, the departments we support and Tesla as a whole. Help us achieve our best work and apply today!
What You’ll Do- Develop and maintain control plan to verify first article, in process, and final product of various complex and critical components to engineering specifications
- Develop and maintain work instructions for production, process, and quality
- Able to coordinate MSA system and implement gauges to assure good quality of the product
- Able to handle supplier issues to maintain good quality result
- Focused on customer to handle customer issues and coordinate problem solving to reduce customer claim, PPMs and scrap
- Able to manage new projects: Industrialization, Launching and Start of production
- Able to handle dimensional information and dimensional software
- Focused and able to support production line 70% -80% of the time
- Train Quality inspectors and auditors
- Drive Cross functional problem solving and implementation of countermeasures
- Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or related engineering field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of Quality Engineering in manufacturing environment
- Knowledge and Experience with Core Tools (APQP, DF, PFMEA, Control Plan, work instruction, MSA, SPC)
- Strong CATIA or 3D CAD experience
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T
- Experience with CM4D or statistical software
- Able to support CMM activities
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information
- Flexible ability to work overtime and AWS on short notice based on strategic needs of the company

Expected Compensation
$64,800 - $145,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
