Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Software – Software Applications Test to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight.

 C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

Essential Functions:

As member of the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART) of the Missile Defense National Team for Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) (aka C2BMC NT), this position will participate in software design and peer reviews, develop test specifications and infrastructure, execute manual and automated test and perform analysis of C2BMC implementation in an integrated environment or to test specific capabilities for interfaces or infrastructure in support of operations (e.g., Internal Messaging, control and monitoring, message and display recording and playback, failover processing).

Occasional Travel between Colorado Springs facilities/sites (LM Federal Drive facility to Schriever SFB) and between Colorado Springs and Huntsville, AL is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or 1 years of experience with a PhD, or 9 years' experience in lieu of a degree

Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

DoD 8140 certification at IAT - Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required

Prior experience in an Agile development process

Prior experience testing and verifying requirements in software applications/systems.

Experience conducting post-processing and analysis of collected data; and development of action plans based upon analysis of data

Experience documenting software deficiency reports

Experience presenting analysis results and plans of action orally and/or in written format (e.g., slides, annotated slides, test report document)

The ideal candidate will possess Knowledge and experience in testing and evaluation of a software-intensive system in a variety of test environments/venues, utilizing Agile development

This position will require a strong, self-starting individual capable of diving into problems with assistance from other test engineers and software developers

Preferred Qualifications:

Automated testing for requirement verification

Performance requirement and verification analysis

Verification of ICD and interface requirements

Experience in a DevSecOps environment extremely desirable

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
