About the Role

Are you ready to take the next step in your engineering career? GHD is looking for a Senior or Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to join our growing team in the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the water, industrial, and infrastructure sectors — all while contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions.

You’ll be a key player in our multidisciplinary teams, helping to shape the built environment through innovative design, technical leadership, and collaborative project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver civil and structural designs, calculations, and technical drawings across a variety of materials and structural forms.
  • Lead medium-sized projects and contribute to larger, complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Support financial and commercial management of engineering commissions.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning.
  • Apply engineering principles and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Use CAD, 3D modelling, and BIM tools to develop and refine design solutions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, design managers, and technical leads to achieve best-for-project outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
  • Strong experience in civil/structural engineering design, particularly in water and industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical design, including retaining walls and foundations.
  • Ability to produce and review high-quality design documentation and reports.
  • Understanding of how other building engineering disciplines influence structural design.
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes and leading structural design software (e.g., Tekla/TEDDS, Robot).
  • Experience with 3D Revit modelling and BIM processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (with advanced structural analysis and design).
  • Chartered Engineer status (Instructed or ICE).
  • Experience mentoring junior team members.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices in water, transportation, industrial, or energy sectors.
