What you’ll be doing
Deliver moderate portions of broader civil/site infrastructure assignments with limited supervision, to agreed budget and program.
Gather, interpret and correlate engineering data using established procedures; identify and resolve discrepancies in results.
Independently complete primary design elements for civil works, including:
Stormwater design (pit and pipe networks, major/minor systems, detention and drainage strategy)
Bulk earthworks (grading, levels coordination, cut/fill balance considerations)
Basic water and wastewater infrastructure (reticulation layouts, services coordination and constructability)
WSUD inputs (where applicable) to support compliant and practical outcomes.
Apply a strong quality focus: checking, design verification, documentation accuracy, and consistent adherence to standards.
Propose practical approaches to new problems using modifications of standard methods and previous project learnings.
Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to resolve interfaces (utilities/services coordination, site constraints, staging and buildability).
Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting capability uplift and good engineering habits.
What we’re looking for
10+ years’ post-graduate experience in civil/site infrastructure design roles.
Demonstrated experience in technical execution and Design Management of multi-disciplinary projects
Working knowledge of Aust roads and an ability to interpret and apply local council/authority requirements.
Demonstrated experience in stormwater (pit and pipe) and bulk earthworks design; water/wastewater and services coordination experience highly regarded.
Exposure to WSUD design or integration is a plus.
Department of Defense project experience is desirable (Defense environments, approvals, standards and stakeholder expectations).
Strong attention to detail, structured working style, and commitment to producing consistent, compliant deliverables.
Proven willingness to mentor and support junior staff.
Demonstrated experience in leading or supporting work winning activities such as capture planning, cost estimates and scope definition
Technical/Professional Expertise
Lead, support and contribute to successful project completion by providing technical services in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives as agreed with Project Managers.
Maintain and develop professional and technical skills.
Stay abreast of developments and current industry issues in relevant technical field.
Obtain precise information about work scope from client/manager by active listening and clear communication.
Manages own tasks and small projects to deliver suitable technical solutions.
Writes effective business correspondence, reports and documentation.
Checks own work for accuracy and completeness.
Reviews and quality checks others work to accuracy, completeness and compliance.
Seek assistance or advice where required and work collaboratively with other team members to deliver technical solutions.
An active member of professional body.
Contribute to the accurate scoping out of tasks and projects.
Active participation in improvement processes via team meetings.
Proactive communication with manager and team regarding resourcing and service delivery.
Become proficient with all specialist software.
Identify new technologies, software, etc to improve the delivery and efficiency of our offerings.
Technical delivery of project work, initiating review and verification procedures as appropriate.
Undertake/support environmental impact assessments.
Contribute to the preparation of various environmental management plans.
Conduct field activities within a team environment and in remote and isolated areas
Provide technical assistance and support to other teams.
Comply with internal and external (client and regulatory) drafting standards & document control procedures.
Client
Understand and implement the client promise by understanding the clients and their business, be on time, every time and communicate proactively and regularly with clients and other stakeholders.
Establish, develop and maintain strong client relationships (internal and external).
Liaise with new and existing clients and represent the company positively through meeting clients’ needs and expectations.
Identify improvements and provide practical solutions to enhance our service to clients.
Develop and maintain a personal client portfolio.
Ensure regular client contact and the wider group is informed of client expectations and needs.
Financial/Project Management
Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner, objectives are met and take accountability for results.
Take responsibility for the delivery of tasks as part of larger projects, including responsibility for quality, budget and delivery to program.
Develop skills to manage small projects to deliver to time, quality and budget.
Ensure that project delivery systems are in place for effective delivery.
Actively participates in and contributes to the procurement, management and technical aspects of projects.
Provide project support to the Project manager by updating schedules, invoicing and client liaison.
Business Development
Help grow the practice through developing existing client relationships and identifying potential opportunities and prospects.
Identify cross-selling opportunities between groups & offices.
Maintain and develop future business through outstanding project delivery.
Lead and support the preparation proposals where required.
Internal Business
Active participation in improvement processes via team meetings.
Proactive communication with manager and team regarding resourcing and service delivery.
Provide technical expertise for the purpose of submitting proposals on multidisciplinary projects across the business.
Leadership
Work in an autonomous capacity - is resourceful and self-directed.
Knows when, to whom, and how to effectively escalate issues.
Share knowledge willingly and impart professional skills.
Takes personal accountability for own actions and decisions.
Mentors junior staff and passes on knowledge within your area of expertise and contribute to the development of professional staff and their technical skills.
Develop strong internal relationships.
