Regional Services Engineering provides project engineering support for generating facilities (coal, combined cycle, natural gas, solar, and simple cycle) across the Florida service territory with ~11,000MW generating capability. Additionally, Regional Services Engineering provides technical support as needed for emergent or medium term plant issues.

Hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Florida Duke Energy facility.

The Engineer III position is the advanced level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

The Senior Engineer  is the career/senior level of the Engineering classification hierarchy.  Employees at this level manage work in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision.  Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts and procedures . They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. Senior Engineer represents a level at which career may stabilize for many years.

Engineer III and Sr Engineer are at 2 separate pay grades.

**Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy. 

Engineer III Basic/Required Qualifications

To successfully perform duties and responsibilities:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.

Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience or 3 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.  Experience must have been attained at a "Fully Meets" performance level

Sr Engineer Basic/Require Qualifications

To successfully perform duties and responsibilities:

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.

Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer.  Experience must have been attained at a "Fully Meets" performance level. 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.

Increasingly proficient in principles of project management.

Experience in the utility industry.

Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department.

Demonstrated advancing application of engineering theories and principles.

Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing and presenting recommendations.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Working Conditions

Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

Specific Requirements

Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program

Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience for Engineer III or 6 years for Sr

A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
