Pennoni currently has an opening for a Associate Traffic engineer to support the Philadelphia and King of Prussia Traffic Group and meet the current and projected workload that includes PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and other public and private transportation contracts/projects within PA, DE, NJ and VA.

The Associate Traffic Engineer will work in a team environment under supervision and mentorship of senior project engineers and will participate in all aspects of project development including field work and design.

Job Responsibilities:

Successful candidate will be involved with a variety of tasks including but not limited to: 

Traffic Analysis utilizing Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) methodologies, Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro, 2D and 3D Simulation (VISSIM, Sim traffic etc.).

Traffic Counts and Project Traffic Volume Forecasting and Development based on ITE, state and local guidelines. 

Traffic/Transportation Impact Studies (TIS) in accordance with PennDOT guidelines and local ordinances as well as review of TIS prepared by other firms. 

Traffic Signal Design and Plans; and Pavement Marking and Signing Plans.

Roundabout Studies and Designs; Parking, Pedestrian and Bike Planning Studies

Client Meetings, Public Presentations, Construction Documentation and proposals.                                                                                                                              

Additional Required Attributes:

  • Degree Required: BS Civil Engineering 
  • Licenses required: EIT certification is required and on track to take the Professional Engineer’s Exam.
  • Background or strong interest in transportation engineering specifically traffic engineering.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Professional Engineer certification a plus.
  • Motivated individual with interest and/or knowledge of transportation and traffic engineering principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in ITS plan and specification development.
