Position Specific Description

The Utility Scale Energy Storage team is looking for an innovative and dynamic Energy Storage Engineering Manager who is passionate about renewable energy. In this position, with a team of reporting project engineers, you will be heavily involved with multiple design aspects for energy storage projects. You will be part of a growing team of experts who not only provide excellent inputs and analysis but are also customer service oriented with internal and external stakeholders. 

Employees in this role are strong problem solvers, blending creative and analytical skills to solve complex integration of batteries to new sites. You will manage a specific region of the US in a growing portfolio of projects.  The job will require planning, executing, and responding to issues that arise. You’ll interface with internal stakeholders such as development, operations, and business management.  Externally, you’ll work with suppliers, engineers, off-takers, and many other stakeholders. 

Job Duties:

Ensures regional team meets project milestones 

Provides major updates on team’s projects while driving home solutions for any issues that arise

Develops models and dashboards related to energy storage for organization

Assists in the construction of contractual arrangements for project development

Participates in negotiating agreements with consultants and subcontractors

Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements

Supports projects from conception through execution working closely with preconstruction and construction project managers

Influences project teams in the engineering aspects of the technical work

Collaborates with suppliers to successfully integrate major equipment

Collaborates with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, improvement opportunities, and system integration and controls

Identifies value engineering opportunities as well as emerging technologies prospects

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Desired Work Experience:

SME in utility scale energy storage safety system design and/or project management, with established expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Energy storage codes and standards 

Lithium ion battery storage safety: Familiarity with UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections

Power electronics

Battery storage system design

Substation design

Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage including varying battery chemistries, power conversion units and DC/DC converters

Shows maturity of technical expertise and assumes responsibility for highly specialized technical objectives

Knowledge of various ISO regulations or requirements 

Excellent presentation skills
