Electrical Engineer III or Senior - Robinson Nuclear Plant 

This job posting is for an Electrical / I&C Engineer within the Robinson Engineering team. This position provides engineering support for the site by resolving problems, creating and implementing engineering solutions, and participating in cross functional teams.  This is done while utilizing a strong technical conscience and maintaining a good questioning attitude.

Nuclear Engineer III is the intermediate level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve more complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. They effectively apply fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is complex and varied.

Senior Nuclear Engineer is the career/senior level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in engineering areas of mechanical design support with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in the use of concepts and procedures. They identify problems, develop solutions, and take actions to resolve. Senior Engineer represents a level at which career may stabilize for many years.

Responsibilities

Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.

Provide proactive, as well as emergent design engineering support to ensure proper maintenance of site design basis.

Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the development of calculations in support of design basis and design related activities.

Perform limited scope O&M (and in some cases, capital) engineering changes.

Provides supplemental technical interface with Operations and Maintenance personnel on emergent issues that could require an Engineering Change to ultimately resolve.

Provides support for design-focused NRC inspections.

Provides support for operability determination support in accordance with AD-OP-ALL-0105, Operability Determination

Prepare 10 CFR 50.59 screens or evaluations as required.

Perform design-related operating experience reviews.

Participate in design-related industry and owners’ group involvement.

Support emergent investigation processes that require design support (e.g., FIPs, PIRTs, Root Cause Evaluations, etc.)

Performs design verification, checking, and other reviews a required for engineering products.

Interprets equipment, installation specifications, and maintenance requirements for modification activities.

Perform UFSAR updates as necessary to maintain design and licensing basis.

Provides technical input and reviews for Procurement Engineering evaluations.

Helps resolve configuration issues where field conditions deviate from established and documented configuration in plant design documents.

Provide mechanical engineering support for design engineering organizations during refueling outages.

Basic Required Qualifications – Nuclear Engineer III

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. degree

Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience.

Basic Required Qualifications – Senior Nuclear Engineer

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. degree

A minimum of 6 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications 

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering

Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam

Registered Professional Engineer.

Direct experience in the utility industry

Proficient in engineering theories and principles.

Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Special Requirements/Working Conditions

Safely performs field work in an industrial facility, which could include climbing ladders and lifting objects >25 lbs.

Able to achieve nuclear site Unescorted Access/Security clearance.

This position may be required to have Emergency Response Organization (ERO) responsibilities which could include callouts with a defined response time to the site and an on-call duty rotation requiring the employee to be Fit for Duty.

Required to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.) as needed

Additional hours expected as workload/business need requires.

Occasional overnight travel.

Working Conditions

Typically, an office environment with some work in the plant to conduct system walkdowns and field support of modification implementation.

Hybrid work posture: At least 2 days per week are supported on-site at the Robinson Nuclear Plant after onboarding period.
