Akrapovič announced today a new partnership with Ducati Corse that will see the Slovenian exhaust specialist become an official sponsor of the Italian company’s World Superbike team.

Akrapovič will partner the factory team on the world stage in 2015, and the company’s superb exhausts will feature on the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Superbike Team machines raced by official riders Chaz Davies and Davide Giugliano in this season’s twenty-eight–race calendar encompassing fourteen events.

During today’s unveiling of the official team at the Aruba Data Centre IT1 in Arezzo, Italy, the team, the crowd that gathered, the media, and a worldwide audience following the live streaming organised by Aruba.it were able to see the technical support Akrapovič is giving the Ducati WSBK team. Completely styled from high-grade race-proven titanium—with some titanium cast parts made in Akrapovič's own foundry—and carbon-fibre end caps, this superb exhaust system has been especially developed for the Ducati Panigale R to make it a lightweight, durable, and performance-enhancing exhaust to assist Ducati in its quest for World Superbike glory.

Akrapovič has already been supporting the Italian manufacturer with bespoke exhaust systems during pre-season WSBK tests—the most recent of which saw Giugliano top the timesheets at Jerez in Spain—and this new association follows on from the established partnership between Akrapovič and Ducati Corse, which has seen the Grand Prix machines race at the highest level with Akrapovič exhausts since 2014.

The new exhaust system has been developed exclusively for this season’s bike with close collaboration between the engineers at Akrapovič and Ducati Corse, taking into account the new 2015 regulations, which stipulate that the bikes competing must be closer to production models. Akrapovič’s technical expertise with road models will stand it in good stead to produce an exhaust for the Ducati Panigale R that will be very competitive in the high-action WSBK championship.

The Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Superbike Team machines supported and equipped by Akrapovič will make their racing debut at Phillip Island in Australia on Sunday, February 22nd, where Davies and Giugliano will be aiming for glory.

Luigi Dall’Igna, General Manager at Ducati Corse

“We’re delighted to confirm that we’ve extended the existing MotoGP agreement with Akrapovič to the Superbike World Championship, where their exhaust systems and logo will grace the new Ducati Panigale R. The world-famous Slovenian company will provide us with their technical support throughout the year, and they’ve also produced a tailor-made, high-performance exhaust system for our Superbike machine. Akrapovič is one of the world’s leading specialists in this sector, and together we’re aiming for the top positions throughout the year.”

Uroš Rosa, Akrapovič CEO

“After the successful partnership with Ducati in MotoGP, we’re honored to announce the extension of this successful partnership into the Superbike World Championship. We know the challenge that faces us and it’s one we relish; we understand that Ducati chose us because of our ability and technical expertise, as well as the capability to deliver the products they need for success on the track. This is a tremendous opportunity for Akrapovič because it will allow us to promote our brand on the world stage, and with the superb feedback we get from Ducati we’ll be able to pass the benefits and designs along to the products we produce for the road. The partnership fits perfectly with the partnership between Ducati Performance and Akrapovič for aftermarket exhaust systems, and we’ll be excited to see the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Superbike Team with Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies battling at the front of the pack with their Akrapovič full titanium exhaust systems."
