Vaisala has signed a contract to deliver six weather radars to its long-term customer in Asia Pacific.

The contract includes Dual Polarization Doppler Weather Radars WRK200 equipped with klystron transmitter technology, installation services and training. The deliveries start in 2016 and will be completed by the end of 2018. The value of the deal is EUR 8.9 million.

A weather radar is the single most effective device to observe rainfall. A dual-polarized radar distinguishes between different types of rainfall and between rain and non-meteorological objects, such as birds and insects. It also measures the intensity of precipitation more accurately, providing valuable information for local short-term weather forecasts, for example.
