Kirsten Bauer, Director of landscape architects ASPECT Studios will present a lecture at the University of Melbourne on Wednesday, 14 October 2015 on Strategies from Landscape Architecture.

In a joint public lecture with Jenny B. Osuldsen of renown Oslo-based multi-disciplinary design practice Snohetta, Kirsten will discuss where innovation comes from, and how a practice introduces new design techniques and technologies into real-world projects. Kirsten will share her experience on the controversial Victorian Desalination Project which at the time of its design, was considered the largest public sector investment in water infrastructure in Australia and the world’s largest Public Private Partnership (PPP).

The integration of the vast infrastructural plant – measuring over 20,000 square meters – with the surrounding landscape was central to the success of the winning bid led by an international consortium of engineers and architects and Melbourne based landscape architects ASPECT Studios.

The lecture hosted by the University of Melbourne is part of an 11 day program for This Public Life, Festival of Landscape Architecture, running from October 10-20 in Melbourne.
