With the launch of Havneholmen, another piece falls in place in Aarhus municipality's development of the docklands. Wednesday 25 the first sod was turned for 400 new homes in one of the most attractive building sites in the Port of Aarhus.

The development consists of a series of tall, slender buildings with characteristic steel girders at the top, as a reference to the classic canal houses with their external hoists. 244 ordinary two and five-room apartments have been planned, plus 140 homes for senior citizens.

The Havneholmen project combines urban development with a focus on good micro-climate with attractive and energy-efficient housing. The mixture of smaller two-room apartments and larger five-room family homes ensures that Havneholmen will have a diverse mix of residents with direct access to the waterfront and attractive green gardens. The total construction consists of approx. 400 rental units corresponding to 38,000 m2.

The clients are pension funds TopDanmark and PenSam, with Kromann Reumert and Niras as advisors. C.F. Møller and engineers Cowi are consultants for turnkey contractors NCC. The first phase is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in the fourth quarter of 2015, after which the next two stages of the construction will complete in 2016.
