Today, take the first sod is turned for the new 32,000 m² Odeon Music and Theatre Hall in Odense.

The Music and Theatre Hall is built next door to the Odense Concert Hall, directly linked to the future urban development along Thomas B. Thriges Gade. Odeon will be one of the major cultural venues in Denmark, with a main hall that can accommodate 1740 seats or 2000-3000 standing guests, for example for plays, concerts and conferences.

Besides the large multi-purpose hall, Odeon will accommodate a smaller hall for approx. 300 spectators, a chamber music hall and a rhythmic floor. It also includes the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, educational spaces, restaurant, bar/lounge, offices, meeting rooms and a canteen, a convenience store, 42 student homes and underground parking facilities.

The development is composed of a number of townhouses, the heights of which vary in harmony withthe neighbouring buildings. The cultural centre willacquire the character of a city within a city, as thevarious buildings will be linked by glass-roofedarcades, squares and open spaces which connect with the surrounding neighbourhoods

The parties involved in the project's construction are the contractor and developer KPC, the Southern Denmark Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Odense Theatre, the Partnership for transformation of Thomas B. Thriges Gade and Odense Municipality.
